         The above article was written at about the same time I went to Ekalaka for the first time--and saw my natural father Ernie and my brother Sam for the first time--in the early 1980s.  The article was sent to me by my cousin Sam Cordes.  Sally and I had lunch with Sam earlier this spring in Seattle and he mentioned it and then was nice enough to send it along.  Sam's Mother Hallie Cordes--Ernie Funk's sister--was lovely to me when I just dropped "out of the blue" into their family tree.  Sam would want me to mention that after he had lunch with us he was heading to Washington, D.C. to meet with the President:
