ATTRIBUTES

This tree is on the Great Plant Picks list for the Pacific Northwest.

Foliage: Evergreen

Mature Height: 12-14 ft.

Mature Width: Usually determined by the spacing between trees in the row--2-3'.

Sunlight: Full sun, partial sun; doesn't like shade.

Soil:. Likes well-drained soil, but must be kept well watered when first planted.

Growth Rate: Slow, 6-9" a year once established, depending on growing conditions.

"Instant Privacy" Use: The most popular "Instant Privacy" tree.

"Instant Privacy" Spacing: The rule of thumb is "2' centers", meaning the trunks of each tree are 2' apart. So if you're trying to cover 20', you'd need 10 trees. These trees can also be spaced wider than that--2.5' or even 3' centers in order to cut down on the cost (it is simply a matter of how long you wish to wait for a solid wall).

Comments: Tight columnar form is a pleasing shape and look, and this tree holds its beautiful deep green color very well. No pruning necessary, except to level the top of the row of trees if desired.
